Freeman Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast

Wine Details

Pinot Noir

Wine Description

(2013 Vintage) The 2013 Freeman Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir shows a medium garnet color and has a true Sonoma Coast nose of fresh Mirabelle plums, wild herbs, and toasted oak. The zesty acidity of the refreshing palate compliments the ripe 2013 fruit without the abundance of hard tannin we sometimes find in less ripe years. Wood strawberries and rhubarb are the predominant flavors on the palate.

(2006 Vintage) It is as if the Freeman wines fell in pairs, because this one, like its mate above, has a fair bit of fruit on the good side of its ledger, but it finds a bit too much acid-driven narrowness on the other side of the scorecard. Admittedly, both this one and the Keefer Ranch bottling are acceptable wines and seem likely to be fully satisfying with lighter meals like veal roasts and chops or even a grilled salmon filet.
