Brilliant, pale straw color. Citrus aromas of lemon and floral notes are followed by subtle notes of mineral and vanilla bean. Fruit flavors and citrus on entry complemented by round mouth-feel and defined Camp Meeting Ridge vineyard minerality leading to a long, complex finish. This wine spent 11 months in barrel and an additional year at the winery in bottle prior to this release. Drinking impressively now and will continue to develop.
Connoisseurs' Guide to California WinesThere is a tea-smoke richness to the ripe fruit, honey and slightly nutty aromas of this complex wine, yet, despite the fullness that comes as an unmistakable part of this wine's makeup, it is quite well-balanced and alive from entry to finish and adds in a citrusy note at the end. It will make entirely satisfactory drinking in the near term but it has more to offer over time, and a few years of quiet cellaring will be worth the wait.
