(2011 Vintage) Every one of Firriato’s estates boasts the privilege of producing very different wines thanks to the singular orographic and weather conditions that distinguish each terroir. The Dagala Borromeo estate is distinguished by very fertile, sandy loam soil, which is deep, with good structure and relatively poor in mineral elements, producing a wine of excellent quality. Chiaramonte Nero D’Avola faithfully reflects the personality and character of the most important black grape variety of Sicily, immediately evident in its intense ruby red colour. Captivating on the nose, it unfolds with delicious, clear notes of small red berries and lovingly intertwined spices. It has a round, well-structured flavour. Equipped with soft, elegant tannins and a well-balanced palate, this wine is classed as one of the classic wines of Sicily. Interesting facts Palazzo Chiaramonte Steri has been a symbol of political and religious power over the centuries, but it now flies the flag of culture in Sicily, home to one of the oldest universities in Europe. It is with respect for this glorious past that this Nero d’Avola varietal wine expresses its love for a land dedicated to growing vines. The precision and harmony of the forms of the Steri are perfectly reproduced in the glass with a wine that creates a perfect balance between the strength of the vine and the balanced vinification process.
