Rating: 91-94 - As reviewed by International Wine Cellar in Issue 127, July/August 2006. (from Latour's oldest vines in this premier cru vineyard, now about 55 years of age; these are also "the most tired rows," according to Latour, and are harvested separately) Highly aromatic nose combines peach and resiny nut oils. Then sweet, fat and succulent, with orange and grapefruit flavors given shape by firm, ripe acidity. Concentrated, spicy and very aromatic in the mouth, conveying an impression of density and power. Finishes classically dry and minerally, with superb length and grip. These vines yielded just 20 hectoliters in '05 (and a very reasonable 25 in the copious year of 2004). Latour notes that this is higher in acidity than the regular Genevrieres cuvee but a bit higher in alcohol as well, at 13.8%, and also is carrying a full 2.0 grams of residual sugar.
