As with many great wines this one is a late bloomer and is expected to be a long-lived classic. Generous aromas of honey-suckle, baked pear, pineapple and lemon cream tempt the palate. Tastes of white fruit, crème brûlée and a note of toasted almond engage the palate. The flavors are full and followed by a long, silky finish.
Luxurious and complex, blending an opulent texture with lively acidity. Bold aromas of brioche, almond and lemon curd lead to layered flavors of Asian pear and cinnamon spice.
This wine matches particularly well with shellfish such as crab, lobster and scallops. It will also enhance a variety of fish and poultry dishes and is an excellent match with goat cheese and double or triple cream cheeses.
Wine Enthusiast“With this brut-style wine, Domaine Carneros competes against California’s most serious sparkling wine contenders. It is certainly the finest Le Rêve ever, glamorous and provocative, massively flavored in lemon, lime and tangerine flavors, yet balanced and elegant, with the doughy tartness of Champagne. A great achievement." – Steve Heimoff June 1, 2011
