Wine Description

(From 2011 Vintage) Delivering great depth from a diverse set of top rated vineyards, this deep crimson wine displays sophisticated aromas of lavender, pencil shaving and black fruits. The dense, viscous palate fills the mouth with boysenberry, red currant, and cassis. The long polished finish is graced with subtle notes of cigar box and is fully rounded by the velvety tannins.

Winemaker's Notes

From its dense, saturated ruby hue to its earthy, cigar box nose, this Cabernet Sauvignon commands attention and suggests a cellar-worthy wine. More than evident on the palate right now is the great intensity, depth and structure it possesses. Pure, focused flavors of black cherry, currant and tobacco coat the mouth, while notes of forest floor and pencil shavings add further dimension and nuance. A lingering finish offers balanced acidity and firm, chewy tannins.

  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
Directed by its ripe, energetic smells of distinct black cherry fruit and complemented comfortably by background notes of toasty oak, this wine takes no back seat to any of its cellarmates, and, indeed, for some tasters will be the first choice for the value on offer here. It is supple and balanced on the palate with tannin at the finish and a touch of heat, but it is its impressive fruit that is the key to its success and the guarantor of further growth that is to come with cellaring.
  • Wine & Spirits
Pure, rich and concentrated, this is flamboyant, offering depth, range of flavor, structure and depth. The currant and toasty oak flavors are intense and focused without being overdone.
