(2003 Vintage) As you take in the concentrated garnet color, your nose is greeted by a blast of cherry cola. A closer sniff reveals ripe berries, black pepper, anise and sandalwood. The juicy palate is laced with cranberry, vanilla bean and almond, and the vibrant finish displays dry oak tannins. Big, bold and balanced.
black fruits punctuated by ripe bing cherry, as well as smoke, winter spice, bittersweet chocolate and minerality, followed by a bone-dry finish framed in toasted oak.
July 2011: Not a bad wine, but nothing jumped out as special either. Don't think I'll get it again.
