2005 Clos Les Lunelles Cotes de Castillon

Wine Description

(From 2009 Vintage) "Deep, almost opaque purple-ruby. Ripe aromas of red cherry, raspberry syrup, dark chocolate and iron. Juicy, spicy and penetrating on entry, then lush and rather exotic in the mid-palate, with a liqueur-like quality to the flavors of black fruit, spices, mocha, minerals and flowers. Finishes opulent and long, with just a trace of heat. From vines grown on the highest point of the Cotes de Castillon appellation, a little-known but very high-quality terroir that has much in common with Saint-Emilion's famous limestone plateau. For me, this is the most promising Les Lunelles to date." -Steve Tanzer, International Wine Cellar

Winemaker's Notes

Bright, full ruby-red. Very ripe, wild aromas of black raspberry, truffle, game and beefsteak tomato. Lush, fat, sweet and impressively rich, with explosive dark fruit, mocha, leather and meat flavors...
