still tannic but on tasting 2 days after being opened and kept under vacuum pump mechanism, the tannins were mellowed and the wine was easily approachable. A mouthful has sufficient alcohol and a touch of acid. after taste of dark red fruits lasted almost a full minute. if I have more I will drink maybe in another 3-5 years

(From 1998 Vintage) Alexander Valley. Toasty, charry notes and smells of burnt herbs give this wine a rather difficult beginning, and its mid-density fruit in the mouth runs into chalky tannins and intrusive bitter-ness as the wine crosses the palate. Bottle age might soften the wine but cannot save it.
