2005 Château Péby Faugères Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2005 Vintage) Black in color, with a very extracted nose of new wood, blackberry and sweet tobacco. Full-bodied, with raisin, spice and coffee bean character. A full-throttle style. This is a big, juicy Merlot.

  • Wine & Spirits
(From 2006 Vintage) Bright medium ruby. Supperripe, porty aromas of blueberry, espresso and licorice. Deep, sexy and sweet, with ripe, densely packed flavors of crushed dark berries, licorice and spicy oak. Finishes with ripe, chewy tannins and sweet fruit. Not a subtle wine but offers a lot of flavor - not to mention considerable immediate appeal. (A second bottle of equal quality showed more perfumed lift to its blackberry, licorice and violet aromas and was distinctly less porty; the palate was a bit less weighty and more elegant.)
