(From 2011 Vintage) EN PRIMEUR - Deep garnet-red. Red fruit-driven nose with plummy notes and elegant oak. Fleshy attack with savoury fruit, refined tannins and good acidity. A taut, focused style.
(From 2007 Vintage) Deep purple-red, good blackcurrant fruit, nicely ripe, quite straightforward, slightly smoky (oak) wine, just a bit green on the finish.

"Wine Spectator: 91 points Rated: 90 by Connoisseurs' Guide, Apr 08 Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine This mannerly bottling could easily encourage lots of tasters to give it a chance to smooth out over the next five to eight years. Not ever a bold or brash effort, it comes with the more refined stance of good Margaux wines, and from its layered mix of fresh cherries to its hints of wildflowers, it displays good balance and the inner solidity to age gracefully. Rated: 87(+?) by Stephen Tanzer, May/Jun 08 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar Bright ruby-red. Medicinal black cherry and licorice on the nose; this smells serious. Densely packed and firmly built, with juicy acidity and notes of licorice and herbs contributing to the wine's medicinal quality. Seems a bit heavily extracted and rather tannic, but there's good material here. I'd hold this for seven or eight years."
