Vina Almaviva Puente Alto

Wine Description

(2004 Vintage) The robe is rich black prune in the center and garnet-vermilion towards the edge. Delicate aromas of forest strawberries, raspberries, cocoa and wildflowers with overtones of honey and incense characterize the subtle nose. The very precise attack is fresh. The evolution is pure and creamy with persistent and enrobed tannins. Flavors of peach pips, almonds and smoky mesquite blend together with vanilla and bright, fresh red and black fruit aromas throughout the exceptionally elegant finish. A remarkably graceful and pure wine.

(2003 Vintage) Saturated ruby. Explosive, powerful aromas of creme de cassis, blackberry, cherry preserves and smoked meat, complicated further by notes of licorice, an almost iron-like peaty quality and espresso. Broad, dense and lush, the dark fruit qualities repeating with great authority on the palate and showing impressive sweetness but also focus and persistence. This has the length and complexity of a high-end Bordeaux, and a concentration and sweetness that bode well for long-term development.

(2004 Vintage) Ruby-red.Understated redcurrant and cherry aromas are complicated by smoky herbs, tobacco and minerals. Graceful red fruit flavors stain the palate, taking a bitter cherry turn on the firmly tannic but silky finish and leaving behind a strong impression of floral pastille. This is one suave, deep wine.
