2004 Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley

Wine Description

Distinctly Alexander Valley in its restraint and grace, this wine takes its time to gain clarity in its flavors. It contrasts light fruit and plump tannins, finishing with the taste of chocolate-covered espresso beans.

The 2001 Napa Valley is a blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. It was blended and barreled down in early 2002, in 100% new American Oak. We blend prior to barrel-aging to achieve a balance of fruit and tannin before they are influenced by oak. We age the wine in barrel for approximately 25 months to develop a harmony of the components, and then bottle-age for another 20 months, so it’s ready to be enjoyed upon release. The 2001 Silver Oak Napa Valley...

The 1992 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has a dark, ruby-red color and a classic nose of cassis, cigar box, chocolate, roasting coffee and cinnamon. This wine has a very full body, harmonious with echoes of cassis in flavor, which beautifully balances a long, slightly tannic finish. This lovely example of Alexander Valley Cabernet is drinking beautifully now and will continue to improve through 2015 given proper cellar conditions.

Herbal top notes with minty and mineral smells all but crowding out the reluctant ripe cherry fruit that resides underneath make for a less than inviting beginning here, and the wine is noticeably soft and somewhat limp in mouthfeel with its fruit again beset by herbs and hints of chocolate. Good through 2020

The 2000 Silver Oak Alexander Valley is a classic, rich Cabernet Sauvignon with a dark, ruby color and a complex nose of cassis, blueberries, cherries, nutmeg, chocolate and sandalwood. It is luscious and full-bodied on the palate and has a long, fruit-laden finish reminiscent of licorice.

Credence Sol gave this to Dennis in thanks for borrowing the 4Runner to move furniture. Paired it with x-lean ground beef tacos made with PC Market taco seasoning, dressed with lime garlic sour cream cabbage and TJs especiale salsa. YUM!

strong nose with lots of dark fruit, smelled great; powerful on the palate with lots of structure and tannins, tastes like it smells; great wine overall but overpriced
