Winemaker's Notes

(From 2000 Vintage) Deep violet/red garnet color; enticing aromas of smoked almond, black cherry, and bergamot tea. Vibrant, juicy flavors of fresh crushed wild raspberries mingled with vanilla and toasted oats. These flavors resonate in their focus and purity. There is a harmony of fruit and oak that gives this Pinot Noir finesse without taking away from its power. Firm tannins and flavors that don’t quit speak well for the wine’s ability to age an additional 5 to 7 years.Alcohol 14.4%.

  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
(From 2005 Vintage) Intense, highly concentrated, ripe-cherry fruit is the driving force of this flamboyant and lavishly oaked bottling. Unmistakably Hobbsian in terms of its richness, ripeness and oh- so-sweet spice, it is exceptionally well-balanced with a fine sense of layering that bodes well for the future. Big, but not heavy, and unstinting in fruit at the finish, it will win standing applause from those who favor expansive Pinots.
