Patz & Hall Dutton Ranch Chardonnay

Wine Details

Patz & Hall

Wine Description

(2006 Vintage) One of our finest incarnations of the DUTTON RANCH Russian River Valley Chardonnay to date, this bright, enticing wine benefits from the addition of old-vine Wente selection fruit from the Dutton’s Walker Hill block located in the cool climate of the Green Valley. From its wonderfully effusive aromas of stone fruit, green apple and narcissus to its pure fruit flavors of pineapple, peach and spicy pear, this Chardonnay offers an intricate, plush, creamy palate and a long, textured finish that combines finesse with dense, structured acidity.

  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
Very slightly hazy in appearance, in the unfiltered style that some Chardonnay producers have adopted, this wine smells of youthfully energetic appley fruit with buttery and slightly oaky overlays. It is quite full in body and quite high in ripe fruit flavors with more than enough richness and range to offset a last-minute flare of heat in the finish. Try it with one of the fleshy white fishes like Sea Bass or Red Snapper served in a nut-butter sauce.

More complex nose offers apricot, pineapple, clove and butter. Sweet, fat and spicy, with a musky character lifted by clove and minerals and firmed by sound acidity. Finishes quite dry, spicy and minerally.
