About the Winery

This Cabernet has a classic style and structure worthy of its heritage. After 86 years abandoned, the Palmaz family resurrected this historic wine. The label design was taken from a rubbing of the 1889 barrel brander.

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2010 Vintage) The aromas of our 2010 Palmaz Cabernet Sauvignon are reminiscent of of ripe black mission figs enlivened with a chiffonade of basil. From beginning to end the structure displays an elegant crescendo with a finale that begs for an encore.

5% Merlot. Keen and incisive curranty fruit is the driving force of the exceptionally well-defined Cabernet, while bountiful oak serves to sweeten both its layered aromas and its deep, fairly long flavors. It displays a real sense of polish beneath its entirely appropriate varietal tannins, and, while it is not so tough that it cannot be enjoyed early on, it deserves at least a few years of age in which to find an extra bit of refinement and round into its very best form.
