(From 2008 Vintage) Initial aromas of rose petals and spring flowers in the 2008 Opus One give way to cassis, cola and black cherry, with notes of marzipan and sandalwood. A satin texture enrobes the wine’s smooth, round tannins, its bright acidity supporting a juicy and elegant mouthfeel.
(From 2012 Vintage) The 2012 Opus One effuses fresh dark fruit aromas accentuated by subtler notes of forest-floor and graphite. The wine's round mouthfeel and satiny tannins wrap around classic flavors of cassis, blackberry and black cherry. This refined and age-worthy wine simultaneously offers a long lingering finish, with lively acidity and a sturdy structure at the close.
Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon 79%, Cabernet Franc 7%, Petit Verdot 6%, Merlot 6% and Malbec 2%
Robert Parker(From 2000 Vintage)
Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(From 1998 Vintage) A very pleasant wine to be sure, this one wins the day with its ripe cherry and proper cassis aromas buttressed by pushy oak. A supple rounded entry leads to medium-depth, balanced, slightly tannin-toughened flavors, and, once again, oak accents fill out the small gaps in its young fruit. If rising above the vintage in both texture and continuity, and praiseworthy for those entirely significant accomplishments, it is nonetheless quite expensive for what it offers.
