Novelty Hill Merlot

Wine Details

Wine Description

(2004 Vintage) Black cherry and mocha aromas and flavors define this ripe, fruit-forward wine. Sweet tannins and a silky, lush mouth feel linger on the rich finish. "Despite chunky tannins, this has a level of elegance that makes the raspberry and smoky chocolate flavors sing sweetly. Lingers nicely on the finish. Drink now through 2012." Wine Spectator 90 Points

  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
(2005 Vintage) 6% Cabernet Sauvignon; 2% Petit Verdot. Well-ripened, rich in solidly varietal, black-cherry traits and enriched with a nice bit of oak, this fleshy, medium-full-bodied, modestly tannic effort may not be the most showy and flamboyant Merlot to be found, but its impressions of depth and keen and continuous fruit are the stuff of real varietal success.

(2002 Vintage) Good bright dark ruby. Cassis, dark chocolate, menthol and licorice aromas. Sweet and smooth, with chunky dark berry flavors offering modest real definition. Oaky on the back, with fairly soft tannins.
