International Wine CellarDark red. Impressively deep and expansive on the nose, with aromas of fresh red berries, kirsch, smoked meat, licorice and lavender. Juicy and quite sweet, with focused red and dark berry flavors, a mouthcoating texture and supple tannins. The finish is deep, powerful and very long, with a whiplash of ripe cherry and a late mineral note.
Food & WineRating: EXCELLENT Top-notch of its type - As reviewed by Food & Wine - 2009 Wine Guide on 2009. This is the top wine from Font de Michelle, a muscular bottling with a touch of heat. Sourced from vines between 75 and 110 years old, the mix of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre teems with black cherry and licorice flavors and sweet tannins.
DecanterRating: 3/5 - As reviewed by Decanter. Quite concentrated, rather earthy bouquet but good ripeness. Makes up in earthiness what it lacks in elegance. Drink 2009-12.
