Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(From 2005 Vintage) Long on ripeness and mass, but lacking the integration and finesse of the best bottlings, Chateau Dassault offers up a good bit of frontal plum and sweet-cherry fruitiness and starts out fairly plush on the palate. It is not brutally astringent, but it is truncated by dry tannins, and it will need five or six years for its parts to ease together.
