(2003 Vintage) Tasting Notes :This property has made pleasant noises over recent years about getting serious about quality, and the 2003 is one of their better efforts. Dark ruby-colored, with notes of compost, earth, cherries, and black currants, this medium-bodied Pessac-Leognan possesses a pinched, short finish, but pure fruit, low acidity, and an up-front personality that will reward early consumption. Drink it over the next 7-8 years.
Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(2005 Vintage) This firmly structured, almost tight-fisted wine strikes a slightly more classic stance in this very ripe vintage, and, where a good many of its mates mimic the "juicy" style of our local climes, it offers up a restrained sense of cassis before its young tannins bite hard at the finish. Let it sit for at least four or five years with full expectations that it should improve for a decade.
International Wine Cellar(2005 Vintage) Bright ruby-red. Primary aroma of kirsch Fruit-driven flavors of cherry and raspberry, lifted by a floral nuance. Offers a good combination of sweetness and life. Finishes with firm, building tannins and good thrust. A very good early showing for this wine.
