(From 2012 Vintage) This ARTEMIS Cabernet Sauvignon opens with intriguing plum, ripe fig and allspice aromas. On the palate, the wine offers flavors of ripe blackberry, chocolate-covered cherry and hints of cedar. There’s a nice palate weight and texture with ample, yet fine-grained tannins and a soft finish.
(From 2010 Vintage) The 2010 CASK 23 combines the signature perfume notes of FAY vineyard with the structure and minerality of S.L.V. The wine opens with deep red and black cherry aromas along with notes of juicy strawberry, cocoa and spice. The wine has an elegant texture with very fine tannins and great acidity. On the palate the wine is full bodied with rich dark berry fruit with hints of cedar and white truffle that lead to a long fruit and spice driven finish.
Connoisseurs' Guide to California WinesThere is no shortfall of richness to this very solid, handsomely oaked wine, and it exhibits fine concentration and overall balance. It is not, at this point at least, quite so complex or as well-polished as it sibling above, and it finishes a bit on the dry side with pushy tannins limiting its commendable fruit. If its need for aging is clear, it is never so tough as to need extended time in the cellar, and we would tag it for drinking after some four or five years.
