Peju Winery

Wine Description

(2011 Vintage) In 1983, Tony and Herta Peju bought thirty acres of vines in the famed Rutherford district of the Napa Valley. Since then, the Peju family has maintained a meticulous focus on the vineyard, which has grown to include a proactive approach to sustainability and environmental consciousness. That longstanding commitment and respect for the grapes can be tasted with each sip of these balanced and elegant wines. Still family-owned and operated with daughters Lisa and Ariana poised to take the helm, Peju Winery has become an integral piece of the Napa Valley landscape. Classic Cabernet aromas of ripe dark cherry, raspberry and vanilla infuse the glass of this rich, ruby wine. Beautifully balanced and elegant on the palate our 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon features supple tannins complemented by flavors of juicy forest berries, California almonds and molasses. With a round, velvety finish this wine is delicious now and will continue to mature for the next 5- 7 years.

(2003 Vintage) 7% Petit Verdot; 3% Merlot. A bit off the pace previously set by the Cabernets of this usually reliable producer, this very ripe, mildly herbal wine is hesitant in its offering of clearly defined fruit and is instead slightly fat, a bit dry and essentially keyed on simple ripeness.
