Wine Description

(2003 Vintage) Subtle aromas of currant, coffee and blackberry, yet rather coarse on the palate just now. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, long finish.

(2003 Vintage) 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot Ornellaia 2003 is a wine that shows the great ripeness of the vintage through its abundant ripe fruit flavours, scents of exotic spices and a rich and generous texture. The important proportion of Cabernet franc and the Petit Verdot add their complex aromatics, their freshness that together with the wine’s richness give a bottle of great harmony and balance.

(2013 Vintage) Vanilla, toast and smoke notes shade the black cherry and plum aromas, while the spicy oak theme carries over on the palate. Shows fine balance. Best from 2018 through 2029.-B.S.

(2013 Vintage) Amazing graphite and violet aromas with dark fruits. Medium to full body, ultra-velvety tannins and a long and beautiful finish. Formed and tight. I love the fresh ginger underneath it all. A cool profile that’s so approachable with wonderful length. #84 Top 100 of 2016

(2013 Vintage) A blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 7% Petit Verdot, this opens with aromas of red currant, fragrant purple flower and exotic spice. The currant aroma carries over to the austere palate along with cranberry, chopped herb and French oak. With its backbone of firm acidity and assertive close-grained tannins, it already boasts finesse but will need years to soften and develop. Drink 2021-2028.
