Mauritson Wines Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley

Wine Details

Wine Description

(2011 Vintage) The nose is full of high toned red fruit and complimented by minerals and subtle spice. The front palate exudes raspberry jam and cherry pie, which gives way to rich flavors of French oak. The tannins are well balanced and approachable from a young age. The elegance and sense of place that this wine exudes will prove to be a hallmark of the vintage. The finish is long and pure, leaving no doubt that this is a well balanced Zinfandel.

(2009 Vintage) Mauritson was yet another of the outstanding Zinfandels from 2007. The wine is garnet in color, with a nose that is well balanced and herbaceous. Also, there are smoky notes of chocolate and raspberry. Continuing on to the palate, you are greeted by dark fruit and mint with less acidity than you might expect, creating a very plush mouthfeel with dusty tannins. Pink peppercorn and anise round out the flavors and are present mostly on the finish. Pair this elegant yet well-structured Zin with chicken livers and bleu cheese.
