(From 2011 Vintage) Louis M. Martini Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon boasts a deep burgundy color and complex aromas of dark fruit, smoky cedar and dried herbs. Rich and broad in the mouth, our Napa Cabernet has an expansive mid-palate, silky tannins and sought-after balance. Finely etched flavors of black cherry and blackberry are framed by licorice and toast on the long finish. Conditions throughout the 2013 growing season in the Napa Valley were excellent, making for yet another classic vintage. A timely bud break and steady flowering were followed by even fruit set and a lengthy season of warm days and cool nights. Dry weather throughout the growing season made for excellent harvest conditions, allowing fruit to be picked at optimal maturity and balance. The must was pumped over up to three times a day, with some delestage for the Petite Sirah and Petit Verdot lots to soften tannins. Each lot was evaluated separately as it aged for 18 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels (30% new, 70% used) with medium to heavy toast levels.
(From 2012 Vintage) The grapes for this wine were primarily selected from renowned vineyards in Sonoma County. For this vintage, we looked to our Frei Ranch vineyards in Dry Creek Valley AVA and our Barrelli Creek Vineyard in the Alexander Valley AVA. The 2014 growing season was another very cooperative one with early bud break, steady temperatures and long hang time that lasted through an exceptionally long harvest. The result was vibrant fruit development, ideal tannins and an exquisite vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon.
