Amazing wine. Medium ruby color with a nose full of deep concentrated fruit, mostly cherry, together with sweet spice and old wood and a tone of violet flowers that gives the wine a lift. And if nose was good, palate was spectacular with peacock's tail opening of flavors, great intensity, smooth opulent texture and long finish. Flavors included violets, dark cherry fruit and sweet vanilla spice. It has a dark ruby-garnet color; a seductive nose with continuously evolving aromas of kirsch, black and red berries, fruit cake, green olives, nicely integrated oak, violets, black pepper, smoked ham and hints of coffee; full-bodied with firm but juicy tannins, great fruit and high acidity; very long, peppery finish. Very enjoyable now but with potential to improve further. (1410 views) Tasted by whitesnake on 4/5/2012 & rated 92 points: Garnet with a moderate tawny rim. Evolved on the nose with meat, fried bacon, coffee, chocolate and overt oak influence. Peppery on palate with medium velvety/ripe tannins that are quite fluid. A fine wine with concentration, balancing acidity and firm tannins. Approachable already. (1499 views)
90"I tasted through the component parts of the 2003 Cote Rotie Brune et Blonde, and it is a beautiful wine. Offering scents of bacon fat, olive-tinged black currant and cherry fruit, smoke, and earth as well as a concentrated, silky texture, it should drink well for a decade. Marcel and Philippe Guigal, never content to rest on their already impressive credentials, announced that in the future, they expect to release another single vineyard Cote Rotie from a 3.7 acre parcel in the Viria vineyard ...
