This meritage shows the restraint that Alexander Valley can deliver in its best cabernet sauvignon (68 percent of the blend, with merlot, malbec, petit verdot and cabernet franc). And it has the fineness of tannin more typical of merlot or cabernet franc. Its firm black cherry fruit is highlighted by a hint of pyrazines, a touch of mint that adds to the savory tension of the wine. For prime rib.
