(From 2008 Vintage) Colour: Blackened crimson. Nose: Incredibly staggering presentation of rich roasted meats, roasted coffee beans, tapenade, cigar tobacco and black currant liqueur. The facade appears polished and cream-like smooth. Low and seductive it appears to need time to emerge from its shell. Palate: A panoramic 16:9 aspect tantalizes the entire palate with a frighteningly realistic rendition of fresh blueberries and cream. However, savoury complexities actually dominate the palate experience and increase in intensity to a sublime peak then slowly fade. This demonstrated restraint of power highlights the 2012 vintage caliber. Of its Hickinbotham and Onkaparinga Syrah sisters it is the most refined.
"Truly great stuff, the 2003 Syrah Brookman Vineyard boasts a dense purple color in addition to a rich, pure nose of blueberries, blackberries, camphor, spice, and truffles. With superb fruit, great texture, well-integrated tannin, and a long finish, it will drink well for 10-15 years. Roman Bratasiuk is one of Planet Earth’s greatest winemakers, and obviously a top-notch viticulturist given his obsession with sourcing extraordinary fruit from ancient McLaren Vale vineyards."-Wine Advocate94-9...
