Good deep red. Currant and spices on the nose. Fresh, juicy flavors of currant, menthol and licorice, further brightened by a minerality rare for the vintage. Nicely dense and smooth, finishing with supple tannins and very good length. This seems much more successful in 2003 than the basic Puygueraud bottling. Thienpont notes that the George is often vegetal at first, but the cabernets obviously achieved ripeness in 2003.
