Winemaker's Notes

(From 2006 Vintage) A classy, concentrated Margaux, this wine shows elegant, ripe cassis flavors with notes of cedar, tobacco and restrained vanillin oak set in a silky, highly extracted texture underscored by refined, focused tannins.

  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
(From 2006 Vintage) 50% Cabernet Sauvignon; 35% Merlot; 10% Cabernet Franc; 5% Petit Verdot. If not quite Californian in its display of plums, currants and cherries fruitiness, this bottling nonetheless conveys a bit more ripeness and immediate fruit than the 2006 norm, and it similarly shows a fine sense of flesh on the palate. It fights with stiffening tannins in the latter going, but never wholly lets go of its fruit, and it warrants at least five or six years of age.
