Bennett Lane Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

Wine Details

Wine Description

(From 2011 Vintage) Dark cherry, blueberry, cassis, rich blackberry, Bing cherry, mocha. Intense and full-bodied, with loamy earth, dried berry, sage and roasted herb flavors, this is marked by firm, mouthcoating tannins that cloak the cherry and berry flavors. A rich, extracted style.

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2001 Vintage) "Finding good volume in both ripe black cherry fruitiness and a veneer of creamy, caramelly oakiness, the nose of this fairly rich wine never strays from its Cabernet focus, and its medium-depth, black cherry and currant flavors suffer only a bit from the impact of formidable tannins in the latter palate. Still, bottle age of some three to six years would see this one acquire a much smoother and comfortable exterior."

Mildly herbal and hinting at a bit of forest-floor spice in its nose, this full, but slightly soft-centered wine conveys a bit of richness by way of its ripeness but is a little lackluster in terms of fruit. Its rounded, modestly tannic style commends earlier drinking than later, and a couple of years in the cellar should see it though to its best.
