Grapes were hand picked at optimal maturity and crushed into stainless steel fermenting tanks. Fermentation lasted 7-10 days, with peak juice temperatures reaching 85°F. The must was gently pumped over/punched down 2-3 times per day to carefully extract aroma and flavor components. Pressed at dryness, the individual vineyard lots were transferred to a variety of barrels for malolactic fermentation and extended aging. Varietal: 81% Cabernet, 13% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot, 3% Cabernet Franc Appellation: 100% Napa Valley Alcohol: 13.6% Aging Potential: 4-6 years (hide)

(2003 Vintage) Nearly opaque black-ruby in color, the 2003 Tapestry Reserve strongly showcases the concentration that came from this late-ripening vintage. Exotic aromas of black olive, dark cherry, vanilla-rosemary oak spice and dark cocoa with anise lead to rich, medium-full-bodiedflavors of cedar, tobacco, dark currant and olives. The tannins are rich but not harsh. This is a delicious wine to enjoy now or down the road with aged cheeses, grilled meats and other strong, savory dishes.

(2002 Vintage) Rich oak and ripeness are met with a broad measure of sweet black cherry fruit first in the aromas and then in the deep, well-composed flavors of this solid, moderately full-bodied offering. There is a puckery edge of latter-palate tannins still to be resolved, but the wine's considerable fruit carries well even at the finish, and a wait of some four to six years seems the sure prescription for genuine success.

(1998 Vintage) 79% Cabernet Sauvignon; 17% Merlot; 2% Cabernet Franc; 2% Petit Verdot. We count ourselves among the most enthu-siastic fans of the 1997 Tapestry and are more than a little bit disappointed by its successor. There is an early stab at richness delivered by a nice note of sweet oak and suggestions of ripe cherries in both nose and flavors, but those flavors stall out by mid-palate and fade away to a drying finish that is underscored by blunting tannins.
