(2009 Vintage) A cuirassier. Fleshy, extremely focused. Here Serralunga is present with signs of licorice, spices and dark fruits. Cherry, currant and blueberry melt harmoniously together. Velvety and sweetly ripe, with splendidly integrated tannins. San Rocco gives an impression of great power, austerity, with an incredible aging potential. Pure complexity. A strong character. Monumental.
Tasted by THaas on 4/12/2009 & rated 91 points: Dark garnet in the glass. Highly aromatic nose of bing cherry and blackberry. Powerful flavor of intense fruit; cherry, blackberry, some smoke and spice on the midpalate, and cedary tannins on the finish. Very tasty. Well-balanced (will improve as the tannins mellow) with a long finish. Drink 2012-2020. (1010 views)
