Vina Almaviva Puente Alto

Wine Description

(2002 Vintage) Deep red tinged with violet. The nose is filled with mineral notes, mesquite, nutmeg and profound aromas of black fruits, forest blackberries, and licorice root. The attack is deep and well sculpted while the evolution reveals tremendous balance. Bitter chocolate and licorice root fill the mouth, and a return of cassis, cherries and peach pips dominate the final. The vintage 2002 is remarkably dense and unctuous.

(2003 Vintage) Saturated ruby. Explosive, powerful aromas of creme de cassis, blackberry, cherry preserves and smoked meat, complicated further by notes of licorice, an almost iron-like peaty quality and espresso. Broad, dense and lush, the dark fruit qualities repeating with great authority on the palate and showing impressive sweetness but also focus and persistence. This has the length and complexity of a high-end Bordeaux, and a concentration and sweetness that bode well for long-term development.

(2004 Vintage) Ruby-red.Understated redcurrant and cherry aromas are complicated by smoky herbs, tobacco and minerals. Graceful red fruit flavors stain the palate, taking a bitter cherry turn on the firmly tannic but silky finish and leaving behind a strong impression of floral pastille. This is one suave, deep wine.
