(From 2012 Vintage) 96 Points - Robert Parker - The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Gravel Bed comes from a 2.6-acre parcel of the purest gravel, planted with the most famous clone of Cabernet Sauvignon in Northern California, 337. Another big time winner, this wine is a slightly more powerful expression of Cabernet (14.8% alcohol vs. the 14.2% of the 2012 Old Vine). Gorgeous graphite as well as almost La Mission Haut-Brion volcanic soil and wet gravel notes are interwoven with extraordinary crème de cassis and floral notes that jump from the glass of this dense purple wine. I could easily be drinking a $500 bottle of Beckstoffer To Kalon or Dr. Crane instead of a Sonoma Gravel Bed Sauvignon from Sebastiani – it’s that profound. Incredibly sweet, soft tannins give it immediate accessibility, while the wine is quite full-bodied and long. This should drink well, just like the Old Vine, for at least 20-25 years. Bravo!
(From 2011 Vintage) Dense ruby red in color, this 2013 has beautiful aromatics of blackberry and bergamot tea with hints of dark chocolate and vanilla. Rich, yet compact flavors of blackberry erupt on the palate in a more elegant style with some Cabernet spice. It finishes with loamy earth and vanilla from the oak barrels. An outstanding vintage for riper styled Cabernets coming from the Alexander Valley! - Mark R. Lyon, Winemaker
