Wine Description

(From 2003 Vintage) Inky purple-black in color, this looks like a heavyweight, and lovers of big, rich wines likely won’t be disappointed. It’s full-bodied, verging on heavy, with chocolaty plum and prune flavors that nevertheless stay surprisingly fresh on the long finish.

Winemaker's Notes

A modern Penfolds classic that is at once both sophisticated and hedonistic. Dense crimson red in the glass. On the nose, rich, saturated, Christmas pudding-like fruit and stylish French oak are immediately obvious, followed by more subtle aromas of dried glace fruits and underlying dark liquorice and prune.     beautiful nose followed by an interesting tangy but not sour finish. the strength goes off 4 hours later leaving a more subdued nose and finish. still decent but did not exhibit typical Aussie traits.
