(From 1998 Vintage) Time-honored techniques still prevail here. Grapes are manually harvested and sorted. The wine is fermented in oak vats and aged in Tronçais oak barrels as for the first wine. In general, though, Pavillon Rouge is bottled three to four months earlier than Château Margaux.
DecanterRating: 3/5 - As reviewed by Decanter. Quite good colour, but lacks a little intensity, fine Cabernet nose but not very evolved and still quite tight, fine balance, but elegance rather than depth of ripeness. Drink 2006-14. (Tasted en primeur)
