Connoisseurs' Guide to California WinesAmong our favorite producers when its comes to good, honest Zinfandel at a very fair price, Joel Gott has hit the mark again with his latest. Nicely extracted with plenty of defined fruit to temper a bit of pushy ripeness, the wine smacks of chocolate and coffee and a bare hint of prune, and its minor edge of well-managed heat is all but unnoticeable. There is a lot to chew on here with little to dissuade near-term enjoyment. GOOD VALUE
