(2002 Vintage) Produced from mountain vineyards situated high above the Alexander Valley, the vines are dry farmed in shallow, rocky, low-vigor soil, which adds impressive depth and concentration of flavor intensity." Aged in French and American oak barrels, this Cabernet Sauvignon hints of toasted toffee accompanied by black fruit and deep berry flavors of jammy cassis, with a touch of vanilla for a polished finish.
Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(2006 Vintage) Its ripe and youthful fruit aromas notwithstanding, this wine has more of a dry streak at its heart than it can overcome, and while it is likely to be entirely serviceable, it is also runs from glyceriny smooth and somewhat fleshy at entry to astringent and narrow by the time it finishes. It comes very close to commendation, but this isn't horseshoes.
