Etude Pinot Noir Heirloom

Wine Details

Pinot Noir

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2001 Vintage) This open and inviting Pinot Noir begins with aromas of rose petal, black tea, tart cherry and spice. The rich fruit flavors and vibrant acidity keep the wine well-lifted on the palate. The round, fine-grained tannins and wonderful oak integration carry through on the finish, which is persistent with hints of orange zest and minerality. This young wine will continue to evolve for several more years and promises exceptional complexity and age-worthiness.

"Good red-ruby color. Raspberry, currant, smoke and game on the nose. Rich, sweet and chewy; conveys a stronger sensation of extract than the silky and classic 2001. Has muscle and weight without coming off as heavy. The crop level in 2002 was shrunk by the heat, noted Tony Soter, who told me that this harvest was particularly tricky for cabernet sauvignon. Finishes chewy, ripely tannic and long."
