(From 2010 Vintage) Leading with comparatively restrained aromas of red cherries and raspberries along with subtle accents of wet clay, herbs and a bit of vanilla-bean oak, this wine follows with precise, if slightly scaled-down, flavors that fully reflect the nose. Slender, but neither thin nor at all lacking in character, it is an insistent, very mannerly, well-tailored take on Cabernet that should come into its own some four or five years hence.
With a deep garnet color that darkens to a black core, Clos Du Val's flagship estate Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of dark fruit, spice, and dried herbs, with some cassis and truffle notes. Rich and full bodied with fleshy dark fruit flavors and silky tannins, this classic Clos Du Val wine shows good structure and depth, followed by an excellent finish. This wine will age very well for at least 10-15 years.
Powerful yet elegant, this 2002 Stags Leap District single vineyard offering from Clos Du Val is the perfect Napa Cabernet wine. This wine was semi-clear but free from defects. The nose carried hints of crushed leather, cedar, fallen leaves, blueberry, and cacao. Interesting to note a fleeting hint of must that lead to a Cognac vein, this uber complex wine pleases with its velvety finish. Drink now!
