Wine Details

Wine Description

(From 2008 Vintage) Spice -- a hint of tobacco, a hint of milk chocolate -- gives way to a ripe set of fruit flavors in this big shouldered, thoroughly seductive red. This texture is driven by fine, peppery tannins, which stem the tide of ripe, plummy fruit, giving the wine a touch of elegance even as it remains irresistible.

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2000 Vintage) Sweet wood, clove and cassis aromas introduce the dark, ripe stone and berry fruit flavors. Complex notes of toasty oak and vanilla meld with supple tannins to give this cabernet a long and graceful finish.-Ron Bunnell, Winemaker

Pretty good after it opened up for 10 minutes. A bit more acidic than I like, but good.

The family formula is also evident in this bottling, and, while the obvious tannins are held in check until the very end, the all-too-quiet fruit is similarly played as an extra in the cast and makes but a brief appearance. The wine would serve in a pinch, but there are better choices elsewhere.
