2001 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Artemis Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

Wine Description

(From «nv» Vintage) Aromas of cassis and caramel rise and give way to earthy notes of black olive, black pepper, and truffles. Classic flavors of cassis and black cherry fill the mouth as notes of violets and vanilla linger on the finish.Enjoy this wine with braised short ribs on a cold winter's night or with a porcini and gorgonzola burger for you gourmet grillers.

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2010 Vintage) "This Artemis Cabernet Sauvignon offers pleasing aromas of black cherries, red plums, violets, nutmeg and sandalwood along with hints of dried herbs. The cherry and plum notes carry over onto the palate and combine with ripe, mixed berries. The wine has a smooth, supple entry with good mid-palate structure and fine-grained tannins that lead to a lingering berry-cherry finish." - Stag's Leap

Expert Reviews
  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
Napa Valley. Bright, buoyant and nicely filled with youthful fruit that smacks of both blackcurrants and cranberry, this gracefully oaked and nicely polished wine shows a bit of Cabernet's loamy side and offers glimpses of complexity to come. It is firmed at the finish by both tannin and evident acidity just now, and, if hardly a bruiser that demands a decade of age, it is sure to gain in richness for several years.
