Winemaker's Notes

(From 2007 Vintage) The 2007 is a highly touted vintage for good reason. It is fully ripe and concentrated. The wine has very deep ruby red color with aromas of ripe black plums, pomegranate, mineral, spice, and pepper. More Cab-like than past vintages. Flavors match the aromas but with textural chewy tannins in the mid-palate.

There is a clear sense of intent to the broadly oaked, black-fruit aromas of this wine, yet its flavors fail to find the full measure of fruit needed to keep its puckery, acid-pushed tannins at bay. It is slightly supple to start but becomes quite firm, a touch edgy and ever more oaky as it crosses the palate, and, if it is unlikely to find appreciable refinement over time, it could still do with a few years of age.
