(1996 Vintage) Very deep crimson in colour. Aromas of ripe lifted cherries, plums and blackberries with anise, tar, black pepper and hints of herbs and violets. Rich full palate with chewy soft tannins, great structure and length.Cellaring Potential: Excellent vintage, optimum year 2008.Serving Ideas: Slow-cooked duck or lamb with a lightly peppered reduced glaze and a creamy parmesan or pecorino cheese risotto.
International Wine Cellar(1995 Vintage) Dark ruby-red. Pungent dark berry, tar, game and smoky oak aromas. Supple entry, then very firm and backward; quite dry for a young Henschke wine, with strong acidity. There a hint of superripe fruit lurking beneath the surface, but this is not yet showing real sweetness. Strong, firmly tannic finish. Don't even think of opening it today.
