The Zinfandel grapes for this vintage were harvested in mid-September at perfect physiological maturity. Both the growing and bloom seasons were long, as was the harvest. So, the result was another signature Grgich Hills Zinfandel - a beautifully balanced wine with medium body, plenty of soft tannins, good acidity, and rich, complex flavors and loads of berries.     (From 2006 Vintage) 5% Petite Sirah. Both of the Grgich Hills efforts are built along fairly firm lines, but whereas its pricey partner convinces in fruit, this comparatively stark wine lacks clear definition while coming up short on requisite flesh. Hard and drying with a rush of last-minute tannin, it needs lengthy aging and a full measure of luck to grow into beauty.
