Winemaker's Notes

(From 2005 Vintage) Intense black currant with a spicy blueberry compote, cinnamon, aromatic cedar, black pepper and clove. Dark chocolate permeates the aroma with a hint of Moroccan olives. Good depth of flavor with dark cherry, chocolate and integrated oak spice. Full-flavored with a very long, clean and fruitful finish with modest tannins.

  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
12% Merlot; 8% Cabernet Franc. But for a slight lack of extract and continuity, this clean, nicely balanced, mildly cherryish wine would be on the track to higher rating. It sports a nice note of slightly sweet caramelized oak and is fairly forgiving in tannin, and it needs no more than another year or two to get where it is going.
