2001 Chateau Troplong Mondot St. Emilion Grand Cru

Wine Description

"This estate continues to merit substantial praise... Not far off the pace of the spectacular 2000, the 2001 is performing even better from bottle than it was from cask... a medium to full-bodied St.-Emilion with superb texture, great flavor purity, and tremendous harmony as well as elegance... this is a beauty."-Wine Advocate

Deep red. Very ripe nose features dark berries, cocoa powder and brown spices. Rich, fat, sweet and densely packed; really spreads out to cover the palate. Lush flavors of plum and smoke. Ultimately less sweet than the 2003, but wonderfully thick and creamy for the vintage. Finishes with strong but ripe tannins and a slight dryness.
