(2004 Vintage) Red-ruby. Black raspberry, smoke, coffee, mocha and sexy oak on the liqueur-like nose. Less primary than the '05 but supple and broad, with strong torrefaction notes of mocha, chocolate and coffee. Showing its oak today. Ultimately less sweet than the 2006, with less refined tannins than those of the new vintage.

(2005 Vintage) Saturated medium ruby. Superripe aromas of blackberry, violet and licorice. Deep, powerful and penetrating, with a real warmth to the black fruit and spice flavors and superb breadth for this bottling. Finishes long and ripe, with lovely restrained sweetness. A big boy, with 14.3% alcohol. In fact, this is downright powerful.

(2001 Vintage) Good deep red. Superripe aromas of roasted currant, black raspberry, meat, tobacco, violet and spices. Sweet, supple and creamy but with good vinosity. Flavors of raspberry and spice. Finishes rather oaky, with substantial, dusty tannins.

(1998 Vintage) Full bright ruby. Pungent oak, espresso, bitter chocolate and graphite on the nose. Dense and firmly built, with a strong core of sappy spices. In a tougher style than the '99 but finishes quite long, with tongue-dusting tannins. This is really amazingly strong for a wine from the Cotes de Bourg.
